Fisgard Lighthouse

National Historic Site “The first lighthouse on Canada’s west coast. Built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was not yet part of Canada. In the background are the Olympic Mountains in neighbouring Washington state.”

  1. My Grandfather came to Victoria with the British Army. I know he helped build the gun emplacements here and at McCauley Pt. Guessing he would have worked on the lighthouse as well. Went on to the Klondike gold rush in 1898.
